Il sito Bad Archaeology contiene una pagina su Zecharia Sitchin, nella quale il blogger Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews scrive la sua sull' autore azero. Inutile rimarcare che, come tanti presunti 'debunker' e auto-eletti difensori della 'buona scienza' in contrasto alla 'cattiva scienza', F.F.M. dimostra di non aver letto i libri di Sitchin e di essersi basato soltanto su critiche altrui prese qui e li, e sopratutto di criticare Sitchin non solo in base alle sue teorie, ma anzi sopratutto per l' uso improprio fattone da rincoglioniti del mondo New Age e cospirazionista.

La pagina di Bad Archaeology é del 2007, e non risulta mai aggiornata. Ho voluto pertanto rispondere a dovere a questo autore auspicando che aggiorni la pagina e si decida, finalmente, a leggere i libri di Sitchin in prima persona.

It is curious that this page has been written in 2007 and never updated (or so it seems)… i wonder if the author has in any way changed his idea on ZS or not. Let this alone, i would like to point out something:

– the paragraph about Nibiru in the main section presents Nibiru not according to ZS’s material, but linking it only to speculations made by new age researchers, so it is completely meaningless and i suppose this has only been inserted in the page to mock the topic, and ZS indirectly – same can be said about the “Conspiracy?” chapter, which is not related to ZS’s material but to other people’s. This chapter also contains an unforgivable mistake: “The release of information about the Anunnaki to the public, according to Sitchin, will coincide with the next arrival of Nibiru in the year 2013; the International Space Station is secretly intended to ascertain the whereabouts of Nibiru.”. Sitchin never mentioned anything about 2013 or about the IIS, this is total nonsense, nay he had to make a public lecture (also published in DVD: “2012: will the anunnaki return?”) to clarify that he has nothing to do with the 2012 scare and that in NO way the Nibiru / Anunnaki matter is by him related to our times. – the description of ZS ideas on mythology and the possibility that sumerian myths and the bible contain technological features is bogus, it seems to me that the author of this article has never taken his time to read Sitchin’s books. One major example, that of the Earth/Moon origin: the author refers to the so-called ‘great impact theory’ which was promoted at a global science conference in the ’80s. Since then, it is still widely accepted by scholars who don’t keep their knowledge of the topic up to date. This theory was only 1 of 5 theories, and has been widely proven wrong or at least bogus in the last 15 years. Many brave scholars (like Runkorn, to name one) had discredited it much earlier. – Sitchin’s translation are about 70-80% accurate, I analized them for years. The problem in Sitchin’s translation is that, since his books are written for the masses, and not for academics, he does not use omophony indexes in sumerograms rendition. So for example when he writes about MU he does not specity if he is writing about MU, MU2, MU3, MU6 etc. A criticist will simply look for MU in a sumerian dictionary, find a different meaning, and yell “see? sitchin translation is wrong”. But if he takes etimological dictionaries and checks for the correct sumerogram tansliteration, he will mostly find the meaning Sitchin has given (or something similar, on which sitchin has done interpretation). Some other problems with Sitchin lingustics is that modern dictionaries have abbandoned earlier meanings, which can be traced back to older dictionaries (i.e.: John Prince, 1908) so the scholars say that sitchin translation come from ‘outdated material’.

I believe it would be fair to update this article and I suggest the author to read ZS’s books instead of basing his idea on other authors’ material.

Questo capitolo contiene anche un errore imperdonabile: "Il rilascio di informazioni sugli Anunnaki al pubblico, secondo Sitchin, coinciderà con il prossimo arrivo di Nibiru nel corso dell'anno 2013; la Stazione Spaziale Internazionale è segretamente intesa ad accertare la sorte di Nibiru.". Sitchin non ha mai detto nulla circa il 2013 o circa l'IIS, questa è una sciocchezza totale, anzi ha dovuto fare una conferenza pubblica (pubblicata anche in DVD: "2012: Will the Anunnaki Return?") per chiarire che non ha nulla a che fare con l' allarme 2012 e che in nessun modo l' argomento Nibiru / Anunnaki è da lui legato ai nostri tempi. - La descrizione delle idee ZS sulla mitologia e la possibilità che i miti sumeri e la Bibbia contengono caratteristiche tecnologiche è ambigua, mi sembra che l'autore di questo articolo non si sia mai preso il tempo per leggere i libri di Sitchin. Un esempio importante, quello dell'origine del sistema Terra / Luna: l'autore si riferisce alla cosiddetta 'teoria del grande impatto' che è fu promossa ad una conferenza scientifica mondiale negli anni '80. Da allora, è ancora ampiamente accettata dagli studiosi che non si sono aggiornati sul tema . Questa teoria fu solo 1 di 5 teorie, ed è stata ampiamente dimostrata sbagliata o almeno ambigua negli ultimi 15 anni. Molti studiosi coraggiosi (come Runkorn, per citarne uno) l' avevano screditata molto prima. - Le traduzioni di Sitchin sono accurate per circa il 70-80%, le ho analizzate per anni. Il problema nelle traduzioni di Sitchin è che, dal momento che i suoi libri sono scritti per le masse, e non per gli accademici, non usa indici di omofonia nei Sumerogrammi. Così, per esempio, quando scrive su MU lui non specifica se sta scrivendo su MU, MU2, MU3, MU6 ecc .Un critico si limiterà a cercare MU in un dizionario sumero, trovare un significato diverso, e urlare "vedi? la traduzione di Sitchin è sbagliata". Ma se si prendono dizionari etimologici e si cerca la corretta traslitterazione del sumerogramma, il più delle volte troverà il significato che Sitchin ha dato (o qualcosa di simile, su cui Sitchin ha interpretato). Alcuni altri problemi con la 'linguistica di Sitchin' è che i dizionari moderni hanno abbandonato i più vecchi significati, che possono essere riconducibili a dizionari più vecchi (i.e .: John Prince, 1908) così gli studiosi dicono che le traduzioni di Sitchin provengono da 'materiale obsoleto'. Credo che sarebbe giusto aggiornare questo articolo e suggerisco all'autore di leggere i libri di ZS, anzi che basare la sua idea su materiale di altri autori. Saluti
